Jessica Kozel, MD
Dr. Kozel was born and raised in central Missouri. She received her M.D. from University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia, MO in 2008. She completed an anatomic pathology residency at University of Missouri Healthcare Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, Columbia, MO in 2011 and followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at Saint Louis University Department of Dermatology, St. Louis, MO in 2012 and a surgical pathology fellowship at University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Pathology and Microbiology, Omaha, NE in 2013. She has been an associate dermatopathologist and surgical pathologist with MAWD Pathology Group since 2018. Before coming to MAWD, she served as an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her areas of special interest include melanoma, sarcomas, alopecia, breast pathology, immunohistochemistry and laboratory test utilization. She has over 20 peer-reviewed publications in the medical literature. She is active in and served on several committees for the College of American Pathologists, American Society for Dermatopathology, American Board of Pathology and other pathology and medical societies. In 2016, she received the Presidential Citation from the American Society of Dermatopathology for her work on appropriate use of ancillary testing. She lives in Leawood, Kansas with her husband and children.
